TK-1ST
Grading method: O/S/N
Description: These early years are intended to excite the student with curiosity about the world they live in. Because of this goal, these years can be some of the most fun. Enjoy and savor these days. Early language arts are essential - reading aloud to your child as often as possible and have huge returns later. Students are learning letters, sounds, numbers, and interacting play. Giving your student as much hands on experience will excite them for learning all the more. |
2ND-3RD
Grading method: O/S/N (+ -)
Description: A whole new world can open up to your student as they begin to move from pre-reader to early reader. However, if your student is still struggling there are supports waiting in the wings to help them along the way and close gaps. These 2nd and 3rd grade students are now excited about all they know are are eager to share their knowledge with you. They are still learning foundational skills, but the confidence is building and they're growing in leaps and bounds. |
4TH-5TH
Grading method: A-F
Description: It is exciting to see these students begin to become more independent, but still very much wanting you nearby to answer questions. They know so much, but are entering the next phase of building skills and learning how to access that information on their own. Time and patience as they struggle with their own abilities can be tough, but worthwhile, especially with math. |
Learning Period Grades & Report Cards:
CORE is committed to helping support families with their decision to homeschool. Accountability is a big part of that process. Please take a moment to review some grading guidelines. While each family has their personal philosophy on grades, it is a crucial part to public charter schools and our accountability to the state and our stakeholders. We are continually working towards describing grading standards across the board to help our families know how their student is performing when compared to other students within the district, county, and state. This can also help to prepare your student for formal testing and set realistic expectations for preparing them.
